Marvel’s latest offering is set to be a violently bloody good time.

Thefirst trailerforEchowas released on Friday, giving people a new look at the origins of the character who was first introduced in the Disney+ seriesHawkeye.

“I see everything that you are. I always have,” Fisk tells Maya. “Don’t be afraid.”

The screen then cuts to a shot of Maya all grown up, doing some of her own fighting and a glimpse of her visiting a grave. There is also a moment where Fisk’s crew hunts her down, which is intertwined with shots of indigenous villagers dancing and living their lives as the words flash on the screen, “No bad deed goes unpunished.”

“You have so much pain in you, so much rage that you can’t contain it,” Fisk continues as the trailer continues to show intertwined shots of him and Maya fighting separate enemies. “You and I are the same.”

The trailer ends with Fisk telling grown-up Maya, “So, who’s the monster?”

“It’s a little on the grittier side for Marvel, and shows the breadth of what Marvel is capable of,” Brad Winderbaum, the studio’s head of streaming, television and animation, toldThe Hollywood Reporter. “It is sort of a new direction for the brand, especially for Disney+.”

Director Syndey Freeland added, per THR, “People on our show — they bleed. They die. They get killed and there are real world consequences.”
