Anthony Madu’s inspiring story is the subject of a moving new documentary.

The 12-year-old made waves in 2020 when avideo of him dancing in the rain in Lagos went viral online, catching the attention of prominent dancing schools. Madu earned a scholarship to study at the prestigious Elmhurst Ballet School in the U.K.

In the documentaryMadu, for which PEOPLE is exclusively debuting the first trailer, the boy’s journey is told as he leaves his family in Nigeria to study in England.

“Having never left his home outside of Lagos, Anthony finds himself thrust into a new world where his wildest dreams are suddenly within reach,” according to a synopsis.

“His courageous journey is a story of extraordinary obstacles as he searches for belonging and acceptance, a family far away, and unexpected challenges that could impact his future.”
