IfDune : Prophecyhasn’t quite infix the ethnical zeitgeist the waytheDunemovies have — or the that other HBO show it resemble in some means , Game of Thrones — it might be because it ’s filled almost altogether withcharacters that can be very hard to root for .

We also do n’t know how they ’ll surmount the greatest threat to their cosmos thus far , presently manifesting in a slippery world who seems to be execute a doom - filled deathbed prophecy left behind 30 eld earlier by Raquella , the Sisterhood ’s founder .

So it makes the story a pretty simple baron struggle while giving us character carefully paint in nicety of Second Earl Grey , some skew darker than others . PreexistingDunefans will obviously pick up on more of the mythology , but theme song elements are excuse for newcomers . There ’s a lot of sandworm talk of the town , for representative , andProphecyfigures out way to give us visuals to go with that despite not taking shoes on Arrakis .
As for those role we ’re starting to really sleep with to detest : Valya Harkonnen , reigning Mother Superior of the Sisterhood , isProphecy‘s ostensible protagonist — but her thirst for power has made her unlikable from the start . Her sister and fellow Sisterhood fellow member Tula is far gentler on the surface , but she ’s capable of being manipulated into committing frightening acts , as well as acting on her own worst impulses .
Meanwhile , Emperor Corrino — another familiar name — is so unsteady a drawing card that he ’s allowed Desmond Hart , a soldier with violent , occult gifts , to weaponize his compass on the throne . The Emperor is a reasonable man , or he was once , but he ’s starting to see the value in using panic as an enforcement tactics . Hart , meanwhile , has yet to have a shot that does n’t make the interview gasp , whether he ’s go toe - to - toe in judgment games with Valya or using his strange abilities to have enemies to glow up from the inside .

These are the play off sides inDune : Prophecy ’s game of thrones — and the main role player , who ca n’t swear most of the other people around them , are drawn together by their partake in goals . This results in relationships that are as unhealthy as the mean value they use to achieve those goals . And there ’s no James Bond more toxic than the one between Valya and Tula .
Thanks to a flashback episode ( the perfectly titled “ Sisterhood Above All , ” the creed of the Sisterhood but also a theme for the actual siblings in the mixture ) , we know that the Harkonnen sisters rise up on an icy wasteland distinguished by its whale - pelt trade .
