Britney Spearsis celebrating the success of her memoir.

On Tuesday — the day her autobiography,The Woman in Me, was officially released — Spears, 41, thanked her fans on social media and said her book had already made history.

“It’s happening ✨🤓📖 !!! My book is the highest selling celebrity memoir in history and it’s only day 1 !!!” her Instagram post caption began. “Thank you to the fans who have been so supportive !!! Love you all 🌹 !!! #TheWomanInMe @gallerybooks @simonandschuster.”

Days before the book’s release, Spears opened up about her decision to write a memoir in aseparate poston Instagram, saying she didn’t write it to"offend" anyone.

The pop superstar then went on to say that most of what she writes about in the book happened 20 years ago.

“I have moved on and it’s a beautiful clean slate from here,” she wrote. “I am here to establish it that way for the rest of my entire life!!! Either way, that is the last of it and s— happens!!”

Adding that putting pen to paper has given her “closure,” she continued, “This is actually a book I didn’t know needed to be written … although some might be offended, it has given me closure on all things for a better future !!!”

“Hopefully I can enlighten people who feel particularly alone in most cases or hurt or misunderstood,” the “Toxic” singer explained. “Again my motive for this book was not to harp on my past experiences…”

The musician’s first-ever memoir is packed full ofbombshells, from delving into herconservatorship experience, to herpast relationshipwithJustin Timberlakeand her“passionate” flingwithColin Farrell.

Ahead of the book hitting the shelves, Spearsalso opened up in an email interview for PEOPLE’s cover storyabout writing about her life.

“Over the past 15 years or even at the start of my career, I sat back while people spoke about me and told my story for me,” she said. “After getting out of my conservatorship, I was finally free to tell my story without consequences from the people in charge of my life.”

“It is finally time for me to raise my voice and speak out, and my fans deserve to hear it directly from me,” she continued. “No more conspiracy, no more lies — just me owning my past, present and future.”
