Like in Game of Thrones , where the Iron Throne was forge from the swords of all the enemies Aegon the Conqueror defeated , this Cyclosa wanderer uses its stagnant enemies ’ bodies to build a braggart false wanderer decoy design to sit on . Seriously , the spider uses its victim ’s worm corpses to make a larger spider - shaped design on its web to frighten off possible predators . That ’s so badass .
The spider , which was first discovered in Peru by entomologistPhil Torresand separately in the Philippines in 2012 by entomologistLary Reeveswas recently pointed out again by Wired Science , uses leaves , debris and dead insect to shape its spider design . It ’s singular , the legs actually extend and the design really look like a elephantine spider .
The fake wanderer pattern is much larger than the actual spider ( ~30 mm on the decoy vs just a few millimeters for the veridical wanderer ) and the real spider can camouflage nicely under all the stagnant bodies and debris it put together . might in size , big businessman in numbers , king in numb bodies .

Cyclosa spiders have added designs to their webs before but it ’s just incredible to see two spider species M of naut mi apart both make out giant spider designs . Reeves and Torres are re - visiting the bold spiders again and are hoping to gain a better understanding of them through various experiment ( like where the spiders get their materials from , how promptly the build , etc . ) . I expect their discoveries to be just as fun to see as Game of Thrones .
