Everybody ’s favored streaming service — no , not ad - free Netflix — is gear up to become the next great studio apartment coming to a cinema near you . Sources familiar with Apple ’s business design have revealed to Bloomberg that the company is spending $ 1 billion on its raid into film .
The anonymous author explained toBloombergthat Apple has approached studio apartment about a partnership to release some of the company ’s titles in theaters this year . The list of possible films includes Killers of Flower Moon from director Martin Scorsese which also asterisk Leonardo DiCaprio , Argylle from manager Matthew Vaughn , and Napoleon from director Ridley Scott .
While Apple has previously relegated films to the party ’s streaming service Apple TV+ and channel limited released in quality theaters ( Like Cherry , star Tom Holland ) , this would be the technical school behemoth ’s first far-flung reach into pic . The company is reportedly choose to release some films in theaters to advertize Apple TV+ , much the same means Netflix released its filmGlass Onionin theatre before it was liberate exclusively on the weapons platform .

As Bloomberg banknote , since Apple has come near third party studios to distribute films in the past , the company likely does n’t have the infrastructure to distribute movies to thousands of theaters worldwide . Bloomberg says that Paramount Pictures will unblock Scorsese ’s Killers of Flower Moon since the project originated at that studio , and will accumulate 10 % fee for distribution .
The reported plans are part of Apple ’s scheme to get a higher profile in Hollywood while also attracting more reader to its streaming overhaul .
