According to a Monday report inEast Idaho News , longtime Preston Junior High School science teacher Robert Crosland is in difficulty over what Preston School District 201 Superintendent Marc Gee says is a “ regrettable condition involve some of the biological specimen ” for manipulation in Crosland ’s classes .
The too bad circumstance was , uh , apparently feeding a puppy to a snapping turtle while educatee watch .
Gee told East Idaho News that the incident find after students had been dismiss and was not part of any “ school - directed computer program . ” While local creature activist and former educatee Jill Parrish told reporters she was told the puppy was alive and hear screaming , the website ’s written news report say it is “ ill-defined if the wiener was live or dead when Crosland fed it to the turtle . ” According toFox 13 , Parrish said she was to boot order that the pup was deform .

Though police were contact , East Idaho News noted that Crosland has not been cited , level with any crime , or aim on farewell from his job .
Three former pupil assure East Idaho News that they recalled Crosland give guinea pigs to “ snakes and polo-neck during classroom demonstrations ” ( again , it ’s not totally clear whether they were alive or drained ) , while Gee added that he hop everyone would be able to keep in mind Crosland ’s year of service :
“ He is a cool teacher who really institute skill to life , ” a former student says . “ I bonk his form because he had turtles and snakes and other cool things . ”

…
“ While the dominion for sure does not condone individual action that may violate territorial dominion insurance policy or sensible expectations of behavior , we hope that any errors in opinion made by a teacher in this instance will not cause us to forget the days of charge , effort and passion the teacher has given to students in Preston School District , ” Gee tell .
Whether or not the pup was alive when it come into Crosland ’s self-will , lease alone decide to feed it to a turtle , it is pretty distressing to find out about any combination of a schoolroom and a dead dog . In addition to the circumstances sounding inhumane or callous at advantageously and inevitably bound to disturb members of the schooltime community , the Centers for Disease Control explicitlywarns on its connection siteabout the possibility of stray , wild , or unhealthy animals spreading pathogens in school environments . The musical theme that anyone could learn anything in effect from watch something like this is also flat - out wrong .

“ We ’re investigating the fact and turn it over to the prosecuting officer , ” Franklin County Sheriff David Fryartold Fox 13 . “ He ’s the one who will determine if the practice of law has been cave in . ”
