Seeing a rocket launch from the ground is pretty groovy . But see one launching from distance ? Well , that ’s just awesome .

And that ’s what a video from visual artist Seán Doran rather wonderfully reveals , using footage from the International Space Station ( ISS ) to show the launch of the RussianProgress MS-10cargo ballistic capsule from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan on Friday , November 16 .

The time - lapse footage covers about 15 minutes after the rocket was launch . At about 39 minute into the TV , you’re able to see the re - entree of one of the Eruca vesicaria sativa stage into the atmosphere , as the space vehicle made its way towards the ISS . The yellow mob , meanwhile , is Earth ’s air .

The Progress space vehicle was launched to the ISS with about 5,400 pounds ( 2,450 kilograms ) of provision on board for the bunch on the ISS – ESA ’s Alexandra Gerst ( who took thefootage ) , Serena Aunon - Chancellor of NASA , and Sergey Prokopyev of Roscosmos ( the Russian space agency ) . It took about two days for the spacecraft to catch up to and dock with the space post .

This was also the first launch of the human - range Soyuz - FG Eruca sativa since thefailure of a previous rocketon October 11 . On that flight , NASA ’s Nick Hague and Roscosmos ’ Alexey Ovchinin refund safely to Earth after an parking brake landing just moments after the launching .

This launch of the Progress ballistic capsule was seen as being a cardinal step for Russia to   get back to launching human race again . The turnabout from that nonstarter has been middling rapid , though , with another crew set to establish to the ISS inearly December . Proving the Soyuz - FG was all right was pretty significant .

Despite the lack of two extra crew members arriving on the ISS , it has still been a busy prison term for the three astronauts on board . Aside from the Progress spacecraft , they also welcomed Northrop Grumman’sCygnus cargo spacecrafton Monday , November 19 .

With all these launches happening , you might be forgiven for regarding spaceflight as routine . But if this TV from Doran shows us anything , it ’s that space travel – no matter how even it becomes – can still look fantastically awesome . Especially when you’re able to watch a rocket launching to an orbiting space station from distance . Not bad , humanity .
