Most skateboard come in a few canonical bod . They may be different widths or lengths , have kicktails or flat noses , or different imagery painted on their decks , but for the medium rider , they attend pretty exchangeable . That ’s not the character with the skateboard pack of cards below , created as part of a competition duringNYCxDESIGN , an yearly New York City pattern fete .

For a contest called DeckxDesign , the award - winning designing firmfrogasked a group of renowned branding bureau , artists , merchandise designers , and other originative pro to reimagine the humble skateboard .

This is the second NYCxDesign contention frog has host — in 2017 , the agency asked designer to reimagine thedart display board .

This time , individual designer likeKarim Rashidand group from business firm like MakerBot , Motivate(the party behind motorcycle sharing systems like Citi Bike ) , and frog itself came up with fresh ways to skate . There were no rules , just the simple command prompt : Design a skateboard .

The outcome included a piece of article of furniture , a repurposed Citi Bike tube on rack , a board covered in greenery , one cover in black faux alpaca hair , a skateboard made from recycled ice , and more . Below are some of the most unusual .

All of the skateboard create for the competition were later auctioned off to benefit the New York City - based nonprofitArt Start .
