Raymond hasDuchenne Muscular Dystrophy — a dangerous form of muscular dystrophy that worsens quickly . It ’s a hereditary disorderliness that affects one in every 3,600 male births . Along with his married woman , Gail , the family lives on a 193 - Akko farm in Baxter County where they raise cattle , copper , domestic ass , and horse . Back during high school , Hal and Raymond commute six hours round trip each weekend .
Raymond graduated from the University of Arkansas ’ J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences and will now move to the Graduate School as a Distinguished Doctoral Fellow . The programme provides a minimum of $ 30,000 each year for up to four year . Raymond also won a extremely militant $ 30,000 National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship for the extroverted academic year .
